Plot

Eagle Strike begins with Alex Rider spending his holiday in France with his friend Sabina Pleasure. Out of the blue, the place where he is staying is blown up in a supposed terrorist attack on Sabina's father, Edward Pleasure, a journalist. All is left is an article from his latest newsletter that burns to ashes after Alex Rider reads it. As if forced to react, Alex Rider goes after Yassen Gregorovich, whom he had earlier seen on a nearby beach, but ends up getting himself into a trap. He is entered into a brutal bullfight by Gregorovich, but manages to survive. On his return to London, Alex investigates Damian Cray, whose number he has found on Yassen's mobile phone, after being told by Edward Pleasure's friend and colleague that they had been investigating Cray. He tricks his way into the launch party for Game Slayer, a games console developed by Cray's company, and follows Cray to Amsterdam. Alex discovers Cray's plan to start a nuclear war by launching a series of nuclear strikes from Air Force One. Cray kidnaps Sabina in order to get Alex to give back a crucial component to his plan which he has stolen. Eventually Cray kills Yassen and attempts to kill Alex, Alex kills Cray and stops the nuclear launch. In his dying breath, Gregorovich tells Alex to "Go to Venice. Find Scorpia. There you will find your destiny."
